Family doctors from across Sheffield want young people to log on and have their say on GP services in the city.
The Central Sheffield GP Consortium has launched an online survey for those aged between 12 and 25 years, to find out what they think of the information, care and health services available from their local GP practices.
The survey has come about as part of a wider campaign by the Department of Health into the wellbeing of young people. Research suggests that young people do not understand what information they can get from their GP and are often concerned about confidentiality since their families visit the same surgery.
Sharon Turner, Practice Manager at Northern Avenue Surgery and a leading member of the Consortium, said: “We have launched this survey in the hope that young patients will come forward and let us know what they think about services available to them from their GP in Sheffield.
“We are keen to let young people know that there is a lot of support on hand from their GP. It will be interesting to hear what their experiences have been like so far.
“Once we’ve collated all of the results, we will be able to use them to help improve services across the city.”
The survey, which has been launched on the Consortium’s website, will seek news on a range of services available from Sheffield GPs including advice on drugs, stress and sexual health.
The Central Sheffield GP Consortium, is a group of 28 city practices who have come together to develop innovative solutions to improve the quality and delivery of medical services within the community.
Its website features regular surveys on a variety of different aspects of healthcare, allowing patients to have their say and influence the way health care services are provided in Sheffield.
